"The first time I spoke with Neil, I identified he was something special. As a guide, he's super fishy. He has the kind of deep knowledge that's hard-won –earned through hours spent wading rivers, flinging line, and chasing hunches. As a guy, he's a real gem: kind, friendly, and always optimistic, he's also got a great sense of humour and the God-given ability to talk to anyone about anything. Neil Goldie is a true legend of fly fishing. If you get the opportunity to fish with him, grab it! I guarantee it will be the type of bucket-list fishing trip that'll ensure you die happy."

"I've had many days on the river with Neil over the years - it's always fun, informative and rewarding when you get that fish on the hook! The early mornings, the wet feet, and the long treks in nature's beauty are worth every moment."

"Came back to Japan last Saturday, and still struggling not to day dream about your beautiful country and the beautiful fish which you helped me catch."
Kenji Sheroyama, Japan
"Hi, I thought I'd drop you a line to see how many salmon you have landed since I left. Thanks for a great day, and one of the best 29 minutes I can remember, not to mention the rest of a very pleasant day."
Richard Lyons, Bollarat Victoria, Australia
"I've been coming to New Zealand annually since 2004 for between one month and six months each year ostensibly to work, but primarily to fly fish for trout. I’d venture to say about half my time in New Zealand has been spent stream side w/ rod in hand. I’ve fished spring creeks, pastoral rivers and upcountry head waters on both the north and south islands accessed by long tramps, quads, rafts, and an occasional heli-ride. Whenever I fish the central South Island I do so with one person and one person only, guide Neil Goldie. And I would not have it any other way. Of the literally hundreds of trout I have caught and released across New Zealand, Neil is responsible for putting on my three largest (8.5, 10 and 11lb brown trout all on size 18 flies). He is a very well respected guide and a key cog in small network of guides who share information about fishing conditions on rivers whose identities they carefully guard. No-one knows central South Island fishing conditions better that Neil. No-one can put you on to fish better than Neil. His keen fish spotting skills are matched with an innate ability to get along with people. He is as generous a person as you could meet and has a great sense of humour. I am forever grateful to this fellow for what he continues to share with me."

"We went on a fishing tour with Neil in North Canterbury and he knew some very scenic locations to fish and really made sure the younger members of our group were kept enthusiastic! Hope to organise another trip soon."
